Sending a file over the Internet is basically the same as publishing it. Anybody with an access to any of many intermediary servers also has the full access to any data passing through it. If the information is of any value, it should be secured. Although securing the Internet is not a realistic task, there is a simpler solution - securing the data being sent. If only the recipient can understand what does the file contain, then intercepting the file will do a would-be hacker no good. This is exactly what Silver Key does. It compresses and encrypts the files you wish to send over the Internet, and creates a parcel that can be sent safely over no matter how insecure communication channel. Silver Key can even attach the encrypted data to an innocently looking file; for example, it can embed an encrypted message into a dull family photo. Silver Key parcel is not just a dumb wrapping - it can show encrypted and unencrypted comments during decryption, create shortcuts, open the just decrypted file in an associated application, and even include an uninstaller. The recipient does not need to install any software in order to decrypt the parcel - double-clicking and entering the right password is all what is needed. Creating an encrypted parcel is no more complex than decrypting - just drag the file or the folder you wish to send, and drop it on the Silver Key icon. Enter the encryption password, and the newly created parcel is ready for sending. Silver Key is a fine piece of encryption software that makes complex things simple. User does not need to be an encryption expert - that is what the software is for.
