Version 8.0E of the OWC SSD Firmware Updater adds the ability to update your SSD from a bootable USB drive or CD/DVD.
This Firmware is for the following OWC Mercury SSD Models:
Extreme Pro RE
Extreme Pro 3G
Extreme Pro 6G
Aura Pro MBA
Aura Pro 1.8
Aura Pro 6G
Do you need to update? If your OWC SSD Firmware revision contains xxxA12F0 or xxxA13F0, then xxx365A12F0 or xxx365A13F0 is the most up-to-date revision, current as of October 20, 2011.
If your OWC SSD Firmware revision contains xxxABBF0, then 520ABBF0 or 521ABBF0 is the most up-to-date revision, current as of August 14, 2013.
NOTE: Drive must be connected to native SATA port inside the computer (includes OWC Data Doubler connected drives).
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is always highly recommended that you backup your data. Your data must exist in multiple locations to be qualified as having a backup. Anytime a drive is being updated, upgraded or moved, there is a potential for data loss. This update is non-destructive. While OWC has updated several drives with no data loss, we strongly recommended backing up all data on the SSD before performing this update.
