Vectoraster is a graphics utility for creating vector-based raster patterns and halftones based on bitmap images. The raster patterns and point shapes can be freely configured to produce different styles. The resulting rasters can then either be exported to an EPS, PDF, JPEG or TIFF-file or simply copied into most graphics software. With the batch processing tool you can also easily apply rasters to frames in a movie to use the effects in animation.

What is new in this release:

  • Fixes a bug where TIFF, JPEG and PNG file exports would be double resolution on retina devices.
  • Improved compatibility with vector point shapes exported/copied from Sketch.

What is new in version 7.2:

  • New Text source type, letting you generate type source images with your choice of text, font etc to base your raster on.
  • New interface icons and improved help and support tools in the Help menu.
  • VRaster files now get thumbnail icons for use in Finder when saved (can be turned off in the settings).
  • New setting to change the interface background color.

What is new in version 7.1.7:

  • Fixes a bug where applying a blur effect to a non-square image source could skew the source.
  • You can now use shift and option keys while using the scroll wheel to step 0.1 or 10 in the value fields, just like when using the arrow keys to step values up/down.
  • Updated Quick Tips help/introduction.

What is new in version 7.1.6:

  • Fixes a bug where applying a blur effect to a non-square image source could skew the source.
  • You can now use shift and option keys while using the scroll wheel to step 0.1 or 10 in the value fields, just like when using the arrow keys to step values up/down.
  • Updated Quick Tips help/introduction.

What is new in version 7.1.3:

  • Stability improvements and fixes to some issues for new users.
  • Improved feedback dialogue for users who don't use apple Mail.

What is new in version 7.0.6:

  • Parametric gradient sources. In addition to using imported images as sources for your raster you can now define linear and radial gradients you can adjust in Vectoraster.
  • More dynamic properties. Greatly increased the possibilities to have different point aspects, like shape, size and color, vary across the raster.
  • New interface. Redesigned to be more consistent, efficient and responsive.
  • Improved stroke and fill properties. Improved separate settings for point fill and stroke parameters that can be used individually or together.
  • Flexible raster distortions. You can now combine multiple distortions to your raster pattern (like waves, twists or randomizations), each with improved individual control over position and scale.

What is new in version 7.0.1:

What is new in version 7.0.0:

  • Parametric gradient sources. In addition to using imported images as sources for your raster you can now define linear and radial gradients you can adjust in Vectoraster.
  • More dynamic properties. Greatly increased the possibilities to have different point aspects, like shape, size and color, vary across the raster.
  • New interface. Redesigned to be more consistent, efficient and responsive.

What is new in version 6.2.6:

Fixes a bug with the preview rendering of line rasters when using mulch-threaded rendering.

What is new in version 6.1.6:

  • Fixed some problems for users with non-administrator user accounts, like in schools or big companies.
  • Fixed a bug with unlocking the full version using e-mail addresses with uppercase characters.
  • Improved error messages for some network connection problems during unlocking.

What is new in version 6.1.5:

  • Fixed a bug where loading a saved file with a document size manually set larger than the source image size would scale the source image incorrectly.
  • Text pasted into the Character point type field is now cleared of invisible control and line feed characters.
  • Fixed some incorrect error messages.

What is new in version 6.1.2:

Fixes a bug where source images included as backgrounds in exported rasters would be mirrored vertically.

What is new in version 6.1.0:

- The manual is now embedded in the application package, and not moved out if Vectoraster is placed directly in the Applications folder.
- Under-the-hood changes to a lot of parts to update to more recent system libraries.
- Fixed a bug with some interface animations.
- Changes to full version unlocking.

Limitations:

Points removed from all exported rasters
